Why Imo State University Owerri Do Not Run Professional Courses Such As Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Among Others Finally Made Known

Three key courses that are capital intensive and money demanding which imo state university owerri is currently running have been identified to be Engineering, Medicine and Law.

Imo state university owerri the noble home of great stars, blazing the trail in quality education has regained full and professional accreditation for some of its disaccredited courses to run for another five academic years.

One of the long terms serving officers of the institution for twenty-one (21) years and currently the director of academic planning professor Nathanel Chukwusimkwuo Ohazuruike who spoke during a confabulation to Elijah Madubuihe detailed four criteria as necessary for any academic programme  to run either on interim or professional accreditation in the university.

According to the one time head of department of crop science, the prerequisite is Academic fitness, Physical, staff qualification and library condition saying that 70% must be scored in the highlighted areas to enable any programme or department gain accreditation in the school. 

Professor Nathaniel who also happens to be one time dean of the faculty of agriculture when asked lamented that Imo state university despite being the noble home of great stars and blazing the trail in quality education do not offer some professional and essential courses such as pharmacy, chemical engineering, veteran medicine among others.

The university Don credited the short-coming to lack of adequate resources stating that the courses are money demanding, capital intensive and at such demand sufficient resource to effective its running, recalling that Imo state university is the only state university in Nigeria offering free education.

The professor re-stated confidence that professional and full accreditation will soon be recovered for the faculty of medicine as efforts are already in play.
