TEARS, COMPLAINS AS OKOROCHA DEMOLISHES OWERRI BANK ROAD

It was free flow of tears on Friday and Saturday,
respectively, as bulldozers and other destruction
equipment stormed The ever busy bank road in
Owerri, the Imo State capital, demolishing
parameter fences, housing financial institutions in
the state capital .

The demolition, the government through the chief
press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo had said was
the Governor Rochas Okorocha's Urban Renewal
program, which was aimed at beautifying the state
capital.

The equipment with stern looking men, arrived
busy road and proceeded in demolishing the
fences of Eco Bank, Rochas foundation building,
Zenith and access banks, and others, respectively.

Other structures closer to the tarred road were
also brought to the rubble by the rampaging
machines.

People, especially staff members of the financial
institutions watched helpless, as the structures
were brought down.

The demolition exercise equally caused major
traffic gridlocks within Okigwe, Wetheral, Mbari,
government and bank road - roads.
