Following the continuous agitation by workers in the Ministry of Board
of Internal Revenue (BIR) due to the directive of the Imo state
government under the leadership of governor Rochas Okorocha for the
workers to proceed on compulsory leave, the Nigeria Civil Service
Union through her Imo state chapter has intervened on the matter.
Nigeria civil service union had on Tuesday led workers of BIR on
peaceful demonstration at Imo state House Assembly to register their
protest letter to the speaker Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim.

members representing Obowo state constituency Hon. Kennedy Ibeh and
Ichie ken Agbim of Ahiazu Mbaise state constituency, the Trade Union
Congress Imo state chairman Comrade Paul Akalazu said the Labour is
not against reorganization of any agency.
The TUC chairman said labour is against what he described as
inhumanity treatment of BIR workers, he insisted that the compulsory
leave by government will not work as he recalled that Labour had an
agreement with the state government on 10th Fabuary 2016 not to sack
any worker.
