Imo pensioners to protest Monday, Dec. 12

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Imo State
Chapter has appealed to the Imo State Government
to pay them accumulated monthly pension before
December 9, 2016 or face a peaceful protest on
December 12, 2016.
A statement signed by the chairman of the union,
Chief Gideon Ezeji, noted that the union during its
state council meeting resolved among other things
that the state government should pay them their
legitiments entitlements, which was backed up by
the constitution of Nigeria.
The statement further explained that the last salary
that was paid to them was in August which
according to them was slashed by 30% stressing
that the state government which receives Federal
allocations in addition to Internally Generated
Revenue (IGR) decided to owe them pensions.
