Imo state government has revealed
that two committees have been set up
to look into complaints of alleged non
payment of contract sums and
compensation for the demolition of
properties and forceful acquisition of
community and individual land for
development by the government.
Making the announcement at the extra
expanded Exco meeting held at the
IMO International Convention Center,
Owerri, the state capital.
Governor Okorocha said that the state
government is not indebted to any of
its accredited contractors and insisted
that those alleging non payment are
not government contractors but
people who got government contracts
through third parties and irregular
means. The Governor however
advised anyone with genuine claims to
approach the Committee for redress.
Governor Okorocha also warned all
genuine government contractors who
abandoned road projects awarded to
them to make sure they are completed
before the end of the year or face the
long arm of the law as the anti graft
agency, the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC) will be
invited to take appropriate measures.
