Pensioners rain vulgar epithet on Okorocha .Over unpaid ‘34 months’ pensions

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has been accused by Imo State
pensioners of wishing them dead.

The pensioners who rained all kinds of curses on governor Okorocha
also accused him of deliberate withholding of their entitlements in
order for them to die. "Since Governor Rochas Okorocha do not want us
to reap the fruits of our labour, he will not reap the fruit of his
own labour," an aggrieved pensioner said during the protest that
crippled economic activities in Owerri on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Imo State chairman of pensioners, Chief Gideon Ezeji
has insisted that the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu allegedly
slapped a pensioner during their recent demonstration in the state.

Ezeji stated this yesterday in Owerri while explaining to newsmen what
transpired between the pensioners and the Commissioner of Police.

The chairman said that, the commissioner came to the venue of their
demonstration with a handful of armed security men and forcefully. I
wanted to unblock the road but the pensioners refused.

Adding that, when the CP saw that it was impossible to move them out
of the way, according to Gideon, the CP allegedly slapped and push one
of them to the ground just to make a way.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mr Andrew Enwerem
on radio programme in Owerri, has denied the allegation.

He said that, it was not true that the commissioner of police, Mr.
Taiwo Lakanu with all his educational background could think of
slapping an aged man who is old enough to be his father.
