Ohakim to contest 2019 Imo guber

There is strong indication that the former Governor of Imo State, Dr.
Ikedi Ohakim may not have dropped his desire to complete his second
tenure which was truncated by Owelle Rochas Okorocha in 2011.

Ohakim inorder to actualize his 2019 guber ambition, has started
consultations with political, community and religious leaders across
the state.

The Okohia Isiala Mbano LGA born politician who has kick started his
2019 guber race, is said to be putting a lot of things into
consideration to avoid making another mistake in 2019.

The former governor who lost to Owelle rochas Okorocha in a keenly
contested governorship election in 2011, believes that the time is
ripe and due for him and Okigwe Zone to take over from the man who
booted him out

"Frankly speaking, majority of Owerri Zone politicians are already in
support of Ohakim because if he is elected in 2019, by 2022 power will
definitely shift to Owerri Zone and stay there for eight years, any
other person from Okigwe Zone will seek for re-election which will be
at the detriment of Owerri Zone."
A source close to Ohakim's camp said.

However, the ongoing power play in the leadership of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) may eventually benefit Dr. Ohakim in 2019 as
Ohakim is a strong ally of Senator Hope Uzodinma in the ongoing battle
of who controls Imo State party leadership.
