IMSU Strike: Lecturers, others to resign en-masse

The protracted lingering strike embarked by the lecturers of Imo State
University (IMSU) has taken a dangerous dimension with the recent
revelations made by Lecturers.

IMSU lecturers under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of
Universities, ASUU who are currently on the fourth month of their
industrial action vowed not to re-open the state owned university
unless the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha fulfill all the agreement
they reached in the Memorandum of Understanding investigations showed
that there is a plot by the aggrieved lecturers and some non-academic
staff of the institution to resign in numbers.
The lecturers already have concluded plans to join other neighbouring
high institutions in order to continue their academic carrier.

The lecturer pointed out that; "We are going to shock Governor Rochas
Okorocha, he can not jeopardize our academic carrier, instead of
wallowing in abject poverty in the name of working for state
university, some of us are ready to resign and go elsewhere and teach
imsuvila disclose.

IMSU lecturers are not happy since the governor has refused to pay
them their allowances, and other entitlements due to them.

It will be recalled that Governor Rochas Okorocha during a press
briefing threatened to concession/privatise Imo State University if
the lecturers refused to call off the strike.
The governor argued that the action of the lecturers is a deliberate
attempt to sabotage his continued effort to sustain his free education
programme in the state.

However, a member of IMSU ASUU accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of
plotting to destroy IMSU to enable his own university take over.

The lecturer who pleaded anonymity stated that the governor is no
longer interested in any academic work in the institution because he
is busy seeking licence for the take off of his private university.
