Imo Govt crushes kidnappers’ homes

As if being woken up from a dogmatic slumber and in the face of
deteriorating security situation, the Imo state Government has
launched an attack on kidnappers, destroying some known hideouts and
sending a strong signal that more will follow.
The State Government demolished several houses belonging to suspected
kidnappers some of whom are already in police custody. This follows a
recent onslaught against kidnappers and other perpetrators of heinous
crimes by the State Police Command.
The current raid dubbed "Operation Osheebe" was conducted last week
and led by Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere in collaboration with
the State's Police Commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu and the Commander 34
Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Brigadier General Kay Isiyaku. Over ten
houses were demolished in the operation which took place in Ohuba, an
agrarian community in the Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of the
State.
According to police sources, most of the kidnap incidents in the State
are coordinated from a massive forest located in the community, where
the victims are kept in connivance with the villagers who conceal the
information from security agents.
Speaking during the operation, Deputy Governor, the said the exercise
was in line with the Government resolve to give priority to the
security of life and property. He said the State Government would not
rest until those behind the unwholesome acts of kidnapping, armed
robbery and other crimes were brought to book.
