President Buhari tasks traditional rulers on the unity of Nigeria
– Explains the reason for current hardship in the country
– Wants uprightness and straightforwardness in dealings of community leaders

President Muhammadu Buhari has addressed the issue of Nigeria breaking
into different parts following series of unrest across the country.
Speaking in Katsina on Monday, May 9 when during his visit to the Emir
of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumuni Kabiru Usman, President Buhari urged
traditional rulers to fight against the unrest and champion the cause
for peaceful and harmonious co-existence among the diverse
socio-political groups in the Nigeria.

According to him, the call became very important due to some
activities of several groups preaching hatred, disunity and divisive
tendencies among the populace for selfish gains.
The president has now called on all Nigerians to ignore such
individuals or groups calling for the country's break-up, narrating
that over two million people died during the last civil war in
Nigeria.
While expressing concerns over the current economic hardship in the
country, President Buhari urged traditional rulers to educate their
subjects on why they have to be patient, he also implored community
leaders across the country to introduce monthly or quarterly meeting
with their community members where they will address issues relating
to their welfare.
