Imo government seals Peace Mass Transit motor park at control post in owerri

The Imo State government through the Joint Task Force on Imo My Pride
project has sealed the Peace Mass Transit motor park situated at
Control Post. Speaking with newsmen in Owerri, the Commissioner for
Works and Transport, Chief (Mrs) Josephine Udoji said that the state
government directed the management of Peace Mass Transit to relocate
to Arugo motor park and gave them period of grace to relocate but the
management refused to adhere to government directive, hence the joint
task force sealed the motor park.

Udoji added that the joint task force is made up of Ministry of Works
and Transport, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA),
Environmental Transport Commission (ENTRACO) and Imo My Pride which is
charged with the responsibility of achieving the objectives of Imo My
Pride project. While sealing the Pease Mass Transit motor park, the
leader of the enforcement team, who is also the General Manager of
ENTRACO, Mr. Jeff Nwaoha disclosed that the motor park encourages
touting, hawking within the vicinity thereby defacing the beauty of
Owerri.

Nwaoha however warned all commercial vehicles loading or off-loading
at illegal motor parks and streets to move to government designated
motor parks, stressing that any vehicle caught loading or off-loading
passengers at unauthorized places will have his or her vehicle
impounded.
