Edo State University: New varsity kicks of with 500 students

The newly established Edo University at Iyamho in Estako West local
government area of the state has taken off with 500 students.
This development was disclosed by the state's Commissioner for Education,
Gideon Obhakhan while speaking to the members of the Edo State House
of Assembly.
Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor of the University of Benin had earlier been
appointed as pioneer Vice-Chancellor » of the institution.
The lawmakers had on April 20 summoned the Commissioners for Finance,
Education, Environment, Public Utility, and Housing and Urban
Development to appear before them to explain financial involvement of
their ministries in the establishment of the university.
